Jedi: Fallen Order - The Phantom Planet The Phantom Planet was a custom DLC, including a mission on a new map for the game Jedi: Fallen Order created by Respawn Entertainment.

This was an exercise for my studies, and I was part of a team of four people: one Tech Designer, one Level Designer, one Game Designer/Level Designer, and a Producer. We had to: create a level with a Zepho temple, use the gameplay of Star Wars: Fallen Order, reuse mechanics, and create a new mechanic for the main character that could be used throughout the level.

My Job :

I was the Game Designer and Level Designer on the project.

I was in charge of the Game Design aspects, including the conception of new mechanics, creation of documentation, and balancing. I worked on a small part of the map, specifically the Imperial Hangar. I conceptualized it with a paper map and created it in-engine using the Blockout Tool.

Game Design :

I was responsible for finding new mechanics for the character and the mission scenario.

I chose the planet Umbara in the Star Wars galaxy for its dangerous wildlife, which we could use to create an engaging level design. The wildlife could make the design more organic and introduce interesting mechanics, such as using the flora to kill troopers or create platforms.

Initially, I brainstormed with the team to find the perfect mechanics, and we developed the "Wildlife Symbiosis"—a device created by the Zepho to calm or manipulate the flora of Umbara, which Cal Kestis and BD-1 would use against the Empire.

The Wildlife Symbiosis can:
⦁    Create platforms with tentacles
⦁    Open new passages
⦁    Create bumpers
⦁    Stun Stormtroopers
⦁    Create traps to kill Stormtroopers

Level Design :

The level has four distinct areas:
⦁    The first area features a forest to introduce the general ambiance of the level, with strange plants observing the player, Tie Fighters crashing and calling for help, and an Imperial outpost with survivors from the main Imperial base, which was under attack by something.

⦁  The second area is the Imperial base, which has been invaded by the flora to kill the Imperial forces attempting to enter a Zepho temple.

⦁   The third area is the Zepho temples, which Cal and BD-1 successfully enter using an old Wildlife Symbiosis sphere to make the flora more manipulable. In the temple, the player will have to solve a puzzle to acquire the Wildlife Symbiosis for BD-1 and use it on every flora element in the map.

⦁  And the last part is the canyon with Imperial reinforcements who come to save the Imperial survivors and attack Cal Kestis. At the end of the area, we included a boss fight with an Imperial TS-TT.
